Competition Time

This September 16th marked the opening of the 4th International Traditional Wushu Competition which took place in Shiyan city. This year 5 members of the school took part in the competition and 20 took part in the opening ceremonies as performers. Despite the international teams being filled, our school was still honored with being asked to have some foreign students join the competition, being the only school in Wudang asked to have foreigners join.

Twenty foreign students of the academy were also asked to take part in the opening ceremonies of the competition in a stadium that sits over 10,000 people with the live performance being aired all over China. The group performed part of the Wudang Taiji 28 on stage during a singing performance by Jackie Chan and were welcomed with roars of applause as they began their performance.

There were competitors from all over the world competing in many different categories. The two Chinese members of the academy who joined the competition, Master Wang Zhi Qiang and Master Yuan's student, Yuan Yi Hui, both received medals. Master Wang Zhi Qiang received a gold medal for his Monk Spade form and Yuan Yi Hui received a gold medal for his Dadao form and a silver medal for his Dragon form. From the 17th to the 20th 25 students of the academy were also asked to travel to Nan Yan Gong to practice and do performance for visiting government officials and foreign competitors. The competition and performances were exciting, but everyone is happy that they have come to a close and looking forward to training. We hope you enjoy taking a look at the pictures below!
